The University's academic year lasts from 1 September to 31 August. The year is divided into an autumn semester (1/9 - 31/1) and a spring semester (1/2 - 30/6). Normally there is no teaching in
January, June, July and August.
Christmas Eve day, New Year's Eve day and Constitution Day (5 June). The University closes at 12:00 on the day on which the annual University dinner is held. Employees can arrange with their supervisor to take time off for doctor and dentist consultations. Normally time off is only given to full-time employees. Certain union agreements entitle employees to time off in connection with special occasions. In addition, one day off can be granted, if arrangements are made in advance and to the extent that duties permit it, in connection with the following extraordinary circumstances:
Certain union agreements permit the day off on 1 May. Employees without this permission may arrange to take the day off on 1 May to the extent that duties permit it. A request for time off to care for an underage child who is ill and must stay at home can be obliged on the child's first day of illness. |
